Job summary

Van-Am Tool & Engineering in St. Joseph, Missouri is seeking an experienced Laser Operator to join our precision manufacturing team. You will set up and operate CNC laser cutting equipment, read blueprints, adjust cutting parameters, and inspect parts to ensure accuracy in a fast-paced aerospace/defense environment.

We offer $24.00–$28.00 per hour, full-time employment, and benefits including medical, dental, vision, 401(k), paid time off and holidays, plus training to advance your career.

Qualifications

• Previous experience operating CNC laser cutting equipment is required.
• Experience in sheet metal fabrication or precision metal manufacturing.
• Ability to read blueprints and use measuring instruments.
• Understanding of machine setup, material types, and cutting parameters.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to work independently, stay organized, and consistently meet production expectations.
• Dependable attendance and a commitment to workplace safety.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate CNC laser cutting equipment to produce precision metal parts.
• Read and interpret blueprints, work orders, and production specifications.
• Adjust machine settings and cutting parameters to ensure quality and efficiency.
• Load and unload materials and monitor cutting operations.
• Inspect finished parts using appropriate measuring tools to verify accuracy.
• Troubleshoot equipment and cutting issues to minimize downtime and scrap.
• Perform routine equipment maintenance and maintain a clean, safe work area.
• Meet production expectations while maintaining high standards for quality and safety.
