Job summary

Martinrea International is seeking a Laser Operator for the 2nd shift to load parts, select and run laser programs, and ensure safe, efficient operation of laser equipment on site. Forklift certification is preferred.

The role requires mechanical aptitude, the ability to read drawings and schematics, and a strong commitment to health and safety. You will maintain equipment, complete shift logs, and work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

• Strong mechanical aptitude and knowledge of mechanical/electrical procedures.
• Knowledge of lockout procedures and safety rules.
• Ability to read drawings, blueprints, schematics and manuals.
• Experience with and understanding of laser equipment.
• Ability to use measurement tools and gauges.

Responsibilities

• Must follow Health & Safety regulations, company rules, policies and procedures.
• Load parts, select and run laser programs; maintain machines.
• Complete shift logs and paperwork before shift end.
• Ensure machines operate at maximum efficiency and utilization.
• On-call for emergencies and provide own basic tools as required.
• All other duties as assigned by Supervisors/Managers.

POSITION TITLE: Laser Operator (2nd Shift)

REPORTS TO: Industrial Supervisor

POSITION SUMMARY:

The function of the Laser Operator is to ensure that all laser machines at Martinrea are maintained and in proper safe working order. Load parts, select program, run program. Preferrred forklift certified.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Must work in accordance with Health & Safety regulations, Company rules, policies and procedures
• Must use or wear equipment, protective devices or clothing as required by the company
• Ensure Machine Set-up meets production and quality goals
• Training and monitoring of all operators in the correct and safe use of equipment
• Ensure all machines are operating at maximum efficiency and utilization
• Physically maintain laser machines and equipment at Martinrea
• Must ensure all paperwork and logs are completed prior to shift end
• Follow Machine Safety Guidelines, ensure proper lock out procedure are followed at all times
• Maintain proper Martinrea housekeeping standards
• Responsible to provide own tools as required to fulfill duties
• On call for emergencie
• All other duties as assigned by Supervisors and Managers

COMPETENCIES (Job Knowledge/Skill, Education and related experience)

• High degree of Mechanical aptitude and complete understanding of Mechanical and Electrical procedures
• Complete understanding and knowledge of lock out procedures

• Ability to incorporate technical reports
• Vast knowledge of laser equipment required
