Job summary

M&H Metal Specialties in Irving, TX is seeking a skilled CNC laser operator to set up, load programs, adjust parameters, and monitor fiber optic laser cutting operations in a fast-paced shop. You will inspect finished parts, perform maintenance, read prints, and collaborate with a small team to meet production quality targets.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate CNC fiber optic laser cutting equipment; load programs, select nozzles, and handle materials safely.
• Review work orders, prints, and job travelers; verify material type and thickness.
• Troubleshoot routine issues and escalate non-routine issues as needed.
• Perform preventative maintenance and cleanings per schedule.
• Inspect finished parts for quality and ensure adherence to specs.
• Follow production schedules and QC processes; meet production targets.

Job description

Shift: 6:00am - 2:30pm with occasional overtime on weekends

Compensation: $22–$28/hr based on experience and demonstrated abilities

Overview:

The Sheet Metal Laser Operator plays a key role in the fabrication team by setting up, operating, troubleshooting, and maintaining CNC laser equipment. This role will primarily load and validate programs, set and adjust machine parameters, monitor laser cutting operations, inspect finished parts for accuracy, perform maintenance and inspections according to the manufacturer’s schedule, assist in loading and unloading material and parts

Minimum/Required Skills

• 1+ years of experience with CNC laser operation.
• General understanding of measurements with the ability to read a tape measure and calipers.
• Experience working with hand tools and power tools.
• Ability to follow instructions.
• Strong work ethic and dependable attendance.
• High attention to detail.
• Able to work independently, solve problems, and complete projects promptly.
• Comfortable in a fast-paced, collaborative environment with frequently shifting priorities.
• Ability to lift and move materials up to 75 pounds routinely and stand, walk, or climb throughout the day.

Preferred Candidate Skills

• Experience with Amada lasers
• Experience with Amada Automated Tower Systems
• Experience with maintenance and minor repairs on Amada lasers
• Ability to read and modify basic G-code
• Experience reading and interpreting blueprints
• Additional applicable experience such as press brake operation, saw cutting, drilling and tapping, etc.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate CNC fiber optic laser cutting equipment; load programs, select nozzles, and handle materials safely
• Review work orders, prints, and job travelers; verify material type, thickness, grain direction (when applicable)
• Troubleshoot routine issues (alarms, cut quality, dross, misalignment, program errors) and escape non-routine issues to the appropriate department.
• Perform scheduled preventative maintenance, cleaning, and scheduled checks per manufacturer guidance and internal policies
• Inspect finished parts for quality
• Follow production schedules and work instructions
• Meet production and quality standards
• Follow existing QC processes and ensure quality control standards are met
• Provide input on machining and QC process improvements
