Job description

As a horizontal mill machinist, you operate drilling machines, which bore, mill, or ream holes in metal, plastic, or other fabricated materials meant to assemble into larger components. You may drill different kinds of holes, such as countersink holes, which can be covered up upon assembly. As the operator, you are responsible for machine set-up, its operation, and the maintenance of tools and equipment. You must also adhere to all relevant safety guidelines at your job site.

Qualifications
  • 3+ years of 3 and 4 axis machine experience is required
  • MasterCam X experience preferred - will train
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds
  • Ability to inspect parts with various measuring tools
  • Must have good manual dexterity
Responsibilities/Skills
  • Plans machining by studying work orders, blueprints, engineering plans, materials
  • Prepares programs and pre-sets all tools needed for machining operations
  • Preps, positions, and secures workpiece in holding device, machine table, chuck, centers, or fixtures
  • Responsible for maintaining a clean, neat and safe work environment.
  • Ensures a safe work environment is maintained, appropriate safety systems/processes are utilized
  • Attention to detail to ensure high levels of quality.
  • The ability to communicate clearly and persuasively with your team, managers, and clients.
  • The ability to work under pressure and multitask.
  • The ability to work in a logical, systematic manner.
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints/drawings and related technical data.
  • Ability to perform minor preventative maintenance when necessary.
  • Save updated programs, documents and pictures.
  • Clock in and off operations according to sequence number of the work order.
  • Must be familiar with the machine controls and be able to perform simple set-ups.
  • Must be familiar with or be willing to learn the Rotary and Indexing capability as the application applies to all the Machine Centers.
  • Check parts to ensure they meet blueprint specifications using approved methods of inspection.
  • Familiarity with the use of Standard Measurement Instruments such as: micrometers, height gages, calipers, inter-mics, bore gages, comparators, thread gages, gage pins etc. to measure the manufactured parts and assemblies.
Expectations

The expectation for the CNC Horizontal Mill Machinist is responsibility for the machining of products to meet customer specifications. Operation of the machining centers and set-ups would be done by selecting and installing tooling, updating fixturing, and pulling CNC machining programs. This position will communicate daily on statuses of jobs. They will work with the shop floor leads and office personnel to ensure jobs are completed on time. A large part of the job is dealing with machine set up/operation and resource management.

  • Full-time, Day Shift 6:00 am to 2:30 pm with overtime opportunities
  • Required Education: High School Diploma or GED
  • Compensation: $25.00 to $35.00 /hour Dependent on Experience
