Job summary

Amsted Rail is seeking a CNC Grinding Line Operator in Petersburg, VA to run and maintain a multi‑operation grinding line for tapered roller bearings and precision seals. You will measure parts, ensure conformance to the quality plan, and assist with line changes while staying safe and productive.

You should be able to lift 10–50 lbs, work 12‑hour shifts on a 3‑2‑2‑3 rotation, and pass pre‑employment screenings.

• Mechanical aptitude and ability to operate complex machinery.

Responsibilities

• Operate and sustain a multi‑operation grinding line producing precision metal rollers.
• Measure workpieces with gauges to verify conformance to the departmental quality plan.
• Inspect parts for defects and correct issues early.
• Support changeovers and setups across lines/cells.
• Safely use hand/power tools; lift and position components using hoists/cranes.
• Enter production run data in the company system.
• Follow process sequences and target dimensions to the letter.
• Troubleshoot part compliance and equipment faults.
• Monitor gantry equipment; load/unload robots.
• Load correct programs into machine control units.
