Job summary

Qualifications

  • Basic understanding of grinding principles/practices.
  • Ability to read and follow work instructions and basic engineering drawings.
  • Familiarity with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Experience operating CNC grinding equipment.
  • Experience in aerospace or AS9100 manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Operate CNC grinding machines following established procedures and work instructions.
  • Load and unload parts while monitoring machine operation for quality and consistency.
  • Perform basic machine setups, tool changes, and offsets as trained.
  • Read and interpret basic engineering drawings, job travelers, and work instructions.
  • Use precision measuring equipment to verify part dimensions.
  • Perform in-process and final inspections to ensure parts meet specifications.
  • Identify and report machining or quality concerns to supervision.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
  • Follow all company safety, quality, and housekeeping requirements.
  • Work cooperatively with teammates, supervisors, engineering, and quality personnel.
  • Assist with continuous improvement efforts and other duties as assigned.

Job Description

The CNC Grinder is responsible for setting up and operating CNC grinding equipment to manufacture precision components in accordance with engineering drawings, work instructions, and quality standards. This position requires basic machining knowledge, attention to detail, and a willingness to learn. The ideal candidate is dependable, punctual, quality-focused, and works well as part of a team.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Operate CNC grinding machines following established procedures and work instructions.
  • Load and unload parts while monitoring machine operation for quality and consistency.
  • Perform basic machine setups, tool changes, and offsets as trained.
  • Read and interpret basic engineering drawings, job travelers, and work instructions.
  • Use precision measuring equipment such as calipers, micrometers, indicators, and gauges to verify part dimensions.
  • Perform in-process and final inspections to ensure parts meet specifications.
  • Identify and report machining or quality concerns to supervision.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
  • Follow all company safety, quality, and housekeeping requirements.
  • Work cooperatively with teammates, supervisors, engineering, and quality personnel.
  • Assist with continuous improvement efforts and other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
  • Previous CNC machining experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Basic understanding of grinding processes or grinding equipment.
  • Experience using precision inspection and measuring equipment.
  • Ability to read and follow work instructions and basic engineering drawings.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work.
  • Dependable attendance and consistent machine presence.
  • Demonstrated willingness to learn and accept coaching.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Familiarity with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Previous experience operating CNC grinding equipment.
  • Experience in an aerospace or AS9100 manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with basic machine setup and offset adjustments.
Experience Required
  • Basic CNC machining knowledge.
  • Basic understanding of grinding principles and machining practices.
  • Ability to use precision inspection equipment accurately.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • Reliable attendance and strong work ethic.

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Frequently lift and move materials weighing up to 35 pounds; occasionally up to 50 pounds with assistance.
  • Frequent use of hands for handling small precision components and measuring instruments.
  • Ability to safely work around moving machinery, coolants, and metalworking equipment.
  • Visual ability to inspect parts and read measuring equipment accurately.
Work Eligibility (ITAR)
