Job summary

The University of Southern California (USC) seeks a Digital Fabrication Technician II to independently oversee the day-to-day operation of the CNC fabrication lab on the Los Angeles campus. Responsibilities include consulting with students, preparing CNC files, and programming and operating the 3-axis CNC router and multi-axis CNC milling machines.

Ideal candidates will have a Bachelor's or equivalent, at least 2 years of CNC experience, and proficiency with Rhino and Mastercam.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent.
• 2+ years of CNC programming, setup and operation experience.
• Experience with multi-axis CNC routers preferred.
• Proficiency in Rhino and Mastercam or comparable CAD/CAM software.

Responsibilities

• Manage the daily operation of the CNC fabrication lab.
• Serve as the primary operator for all CNC equipment.
• Consult with students on goals, materials, fabrication methods and schedules.
• Program, set up and operate CNC equipment using Mastercam and Rhino.
• Determine tooling, fixturing methods and order of operations for student projects.
• Coordinate fabrication schedules and prioritize projects to meet deadlines.
