Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering preferred; progressive on-the-job experience considered.
  • Minimum of 5 years of advanced manufacturing experience in precision machining.
  • Expert knowledge of Fanuc controls and CNC programming techniques.
  • Experience with CAM software such as ESPRIT; Mastercam/PartMaker/SolidCAM acceptable.
  • Strong work-holding, tooling, and CNC setup knowledge.
  • Ability to translate drawings and GD&T into manufacturing methods.
  • Experience with Epicor or similar ERP systems is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a key member of the programming and engineering team to support aerospace production.
  • Develop CNC programs (G-code) using ESPRIT CAM for multi-axis lathes and VMCs.
  • Collaborate to develop processes, tooling, work-holding, and in-process deburring instructions.
  • Leverage CAM software to optimize programs across part families.
  • Set up and operate production equipment during initial process development.
  • Train production personnel for mass production transitions.
  • Manage CNC programs and setup data in PDM/DNC systems.
  • Act as in-house SME and contribute to lean initiatives for productivity.

Job Details


Key Responsibilities and Duties

• Serve as a key member of the programming and engineering team, acting as the liaison between Engineering and Manufacturing (Operations) to support production of precision aerospace components.
• Develop CNC programs (G-code) using ESPRIT CAM software that optimize manufacturing methods for producing precision and ultra-precision components on multi-axis lathes and vertical machining centers.
• Collaborate with Engineering and Manufacturing to develop manufacturing processes, preferred tooling and work-holding, in-process deburring, and metrology that become approved production work instructions. Document all selections in ESPRIT tooling and datasheet libraries.
• Leverage parametric programming, macros, and CAM software to optimize programs across families of parts.
• Set up and operate production equipment during initial process development for new parts; determine optimal setups, toolpaths, material removal rates, surface finishes, and yields.
• Train production personnel to ensure smooth transition and reproducibility in mass production.
• Manage CNC programs and machine / tool setup data within the company's Product Data Management (PDM) and Distributed Numerical Control (DNC) systems.
• Serve as an in-house subject matter expert and participate in lean initiatives to optimize released products, reduce setup and machine time, and improve productivity and quality.


Qualifications (Needed)

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering preferred; progressive on-the-job experience commensurate with a degree will be considered.
• Minimum of 5 years of advanced manufacturing experience, preferably in precision or ultra-precision machining environments.
• Expert knowledge of Fanuc controls and strong background in CNC programming using advanced techniques including on-machine probing and tool setters (preferred).
• Proven working experience with CAM software for CNC programming — ESPRIT preferred; Mastercam, PartMaker, SolidCAM, or similar is acceptable (ESPRIT training will be provided).
• Strong knowledge of work-holding, tooling systems, and CNC machine setup.
• Proven ability to translate customer drawings and GD&T into efficient, repeatable manufacturing methods.
• Familiarity with manufacturing enterprise software; experience with Epicor ERP or similar systems is a plus.
