Sidus Space, Inc. in Cape Canaveral, FL is seeking a skilled CNC (5 Axis) Programmer/Machinist to interpretTechnical drawings and set up metalworking processes. The role is 100% onsite at our Cape Canaveral facility, involving 5-axis Mazak and Haas machines and Mastercam programming.

Expect tight tolerances and hands-on machine operation. The ideal candidate will have 3+ years in 5-axis CNC programming with Mastercam, GD&T knowledge, and experience with high-speed machining.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• 3+ years of experience in 5-axis CNC programming and machining using Mastercam.
• Familiarity with GD&T (ANSI Y14.5) and reading manufacturing drawings.
• Experience on Mazak & Haas machining centers; other CNC controls a plus.
• Mastery of high-speed machining and tool-path optimization.

Responsibilities

• Interpret drawings and set up metalworking processes, fixtures, steps, and tooling.
• Write programs for 2D/3D 5-axis machines using Mastercam.
• Set up and prove out processes on 5-axis Mazak & Haas machines; operate manually when needed.
• Fabricate dies or fixtures for orientation and workholding.
• Monitor processes and implement improvements for quality and efficiency.
• Ensure tolerances to ± .0001" and inspect parts with precision tools.

Job Summary

The CNC (5 Axis) Programmer/Machinist is responsible for interpreting Technical Drawings and setting up metal working processes; work holding fixtures, process steps, equipment and tooling selection and running machinery in accordance with quality standards.

This position is 100% onsite, located in Cape Canaveral, Florida.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Interpret technical drawings and use knowledge to setup metal working processes, work holding fixtures, process steps, equipment and tooling selection.
• Write programs on 2&3 - 5 axis machines using Mastercam.
• Setup and prove out processes on 5 Axis CNC Mazak & Haas machines. Programmer will operate machine manually to perform non-automated functions and when automatic programming is faulty or machine malfunctions.
• May fabricate dies, jigs and fixtures for work piece orientation or work holding.
• Monitor CNC processes and implement proactive solutions; process improvements, line flow, quality, efficiency
• Develop machine set-ups, program edits, and working with tolerances to +/- .0001”
• Measurement and inspection of parts using micrometers, calipers, optical comparators, and various other inspection equipment
• Other duties as assigned**

Required Skills

• Ability to read CAD models and 2-D prints and update paperwork neatly, accurately, and in an organized manner
• Must possess trouble-shooting skills and ability to think critically.
• Must be able to work independently, but also demonstrate an ability to work productively within a team environment.
• Flexible, ability to work in a fast pace constantly changing environment with tight deadlines.
• Ability to work with and provide feedback to various departments and customers within the shop and externally.

Required Education and Experience

• High school diploma or GED equivalent
• Three (3) years’ experience in 5 (3+2-axis) CNC programming and machining using Mastercam Software; applicants with at least 10 years of experience may be considered for a Senior level role.
• Complete working knowledge of GD&T (ANSI Y14.5) and proficient in reading/understanding part manufacturing drawings
• Experience on Mazak & Haas machining centers. Experience with programming of several other CNC Milling centers and controls (Fanuc/Mazatrol/Heidenhain) a plus.
• Mastery of high-speed machining and tool path optimization.

Shift/Schedule

Onsite work Monday through Friday; day shift. Overtime may be required.
