Job summary

Ka‘u Hospital is seeking a Certified Nurse Aide/Transporter to assist with patient care and resident transportation across East Hawai‘i. The role involves driving state vehicles, transporting patients on average three 8-hour shifts per week, and requiring a valid Hawaii driver’s license and CNA certification.

BLS is preferred and must be submitted with the application. Entry-level and full-performance candidates are considered; pre-employment checks and benefits are offered by HHSC.

Qualifications

• Valid State of Hawaii CNA certificate required.
• BLS certification preferred; must be obtained within 6 months.
• Driver's license (Hawaii Type 3) required and traffic abstract submission.
• Experience in hospital or similar setting preferred for full performance.

Responsibilities

• Safely transport patients within the facility and between locations using wheelchairs, stretchers, or escort assistance.
• Provide direct patient care and support, including hygiene assistance and vital signs monitoring.
• Assist with patient mobility and comfort, including lifting, transferring, feeding, and meal preparation.
