The CNA Training Track (Support Aide) provides insight into the direct care role by working alongside our clinicians and completing tasks for our residents. Apply to join the CNA Training Track (Support Aide) and be eligible for the next available Nurse Aide Training Program to become a CNA.

CNA Training Track (Support Aide) Overview:
  • The Elderwood CNA Training course lasts three weeks, Monday to Friday, from 7:30 am to 3:30 pm (times may vary slightly). Until officially slotted for training, you will be designated on a specific shift as a Trainee.
  • The first two weeks involve classroom training; the third week is the clinical portion.
  • After passing the training, your status and pay will be updated from Support Aide to CNA.
  • Elderwood covers the cost of the CNA certification test and any applicable onboarding requirements, including but not limited to PPD and Physical for eligible candidates.
  • This training is PAID—you will be clocked in during training hours and receive pay while you train.

Responsibilities (CNA Training Track - Support Aide):
  • Transport residents or accompany ambulatory residents as assigned within the building.
  • Make unoccupied resident beds, as assigned.
  • Assist in the Dining Room with food service under the direction of licensed staff.
  • Distribute supplemental nourishments to residents who do not need to be fed, as directed.
  • Conduct informal activities on the nursing unit when time permits.
  • Supply fresh water in residents' rooms, as directed.
  • Prepare beds and bedwear for residents at bedtime.
  • Maintain general cleanliness and order in assigned areas.
  • Clean residents' equipment, such as wheelchairs and beds.
  • Keep residents' rooms orderly.
  • Notify therapists of any unusual incidents regarding residents.
Qualifications (CNA Training Track - Support Aide):
  • Must be at least 16 years old; high school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Employment Certificate/Permit required for ages 16-17.
  • No findings or convictions of resident abuse, mistreatment, or misappropriation of property.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English at an intermediate or higher level for effective communication and safety.
