CNA Trainee/Unit Assistant - Skilled Nursing Unit - Full Time

Job Description

Provides general support tasks (non-clinical) for the assigned care area. Works collaboratively with the patient care team to deliver care to specific populations. The Nurse Trainee is expected to transition into a Certified Nurse Aid role upon completion of training.

Qualifications

  • Education and experience with computers preferred.
  • High School Graduate or equivalent required.
  • Licenses: None required.

Essential Functions

  1. Participates in patient care delivery under RN supervision, including:
  • Delivery and retrieval of meal trays and nutrition items
  • Stocking supplies and nutrition items
  • Delivering specimens
  • Cleaning equipment
  • Setting up patient rooms for new arrivals
  • Delivering clean linen and assisting with personal laundry
  • Providing water as per diet orders
  • Supporting patient safety and satisfaction
  • Responding promptly to call bells and unit phones
  • Maintaining a clean, safe environment
  • Proper storage and return of equipment
  • Recognizing emergencies and initiating response plans
  • Adhering to hospital and nursing policies and procedures
  • Representing the hospital professionally and courteously
  • Using resources efficiently and demonstrating initiative
  • Participating in performance improvement activities
  • Other duties include:
    • Assisting with orientation of new staff
    • Maintaining a clean work environment and assisting with additional tasks as needed
    • Accepting non-routine work assignments
    • Accessing secured areas as authorized
