Job Summary
The Nursing Assistant (NA) serves as caregiver to the resident during the scheduled work period in long term care. Provides resident-centered nursing care and daily living assistance to assigned resident under the supervision of a registered nurse (RN). Knowledge of and delivers age-appropriate care related to the physical and psychological needs of the resident as per care plan. Considered a member of the nursing team and is expected to follow infection prevention and control policies and PPE use.
Provides assistance with basic health care needs including bathing, toileting, grooming, dressing/undressing, obtaining and recording vital signs, and providing psychosocial support. Assists with transfers, repositioning, walking, and range of motion exercises. Supports meal preparation and dining, assists residents with meals and snacks, and ensures hydration.
The NA aids providers and nursing staff with procedures, documents resident interactions, and communicates changes in resident condition. Collects non-invasive specimens and vital signs. Provides housekeeping and laundry services, and encourages participation in wellness and recreational activities. May participate in committees as needed.
