Summary

The Nursing Assistant (NA) serves as a caregiver to the resident during the scheduled work period in long-term care. Provides resident-centered nursing care and daily living assistance to assigned residents under the supervision of a registered nurse (RN). Delivers age-appropriate care related to the physical and psychological needs of the resident as per care plan. Considered a member of the nursing team and is expected to follow infection prevention and control policies and Personal Protective Equipment use.

Job Description

• Part-Time Evening 4:30pm - 9pm
• Assists with basic health care needs including bathing, toileting, grooming, dressing/undressing, recording vital signs, and providing psychosocial support.
• Assists residents with transfers, repositioning, walking, and provides range of motion and passive exercises.
• Prepares and assists with meals, creating a positive dining experience.
• Documents resident interactions and communicates changes to the charge nurse.
• Collects non-invasive specimens and vital signs.
• Provides housekeeping and laundry services to maintain cleanliness.
• Supports wellness and recreational programs and encourages resident participation.
• Participates in departmental/organization committees as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred, but not required.
• Minimum age of 16.
• Prior clinical or nursing assistant experience in long-term care preferred.
• Required CNA certification with the State Board of Nursing, or in the process of obtaining it within four months.
• Completion of yearly competency testing and ongoing education credits.
• State-specific certifications and licensing as applicable.
• For some states, may require a valid driver’s license and medical qualification to perform driving duties.
