Job summary

Lindenwood is seeking a Certified Nurse Aid Instructor to provide instruction in the Nurse Aide Training Program. This role includes teaching lecture, laboratory practice training, and supervising clinical work experience.

The ideal candidate will have at least two years of nursing experience, documentation of current licensure, and excellent communication skills, with opportunities for professional growth and comprehensive benefits.

Job description

Professional Summary

The Certified Nurse Aid Instructor provides instruction in the Nurse Aide Training Program to ensure that all students achieve competency in the program objectives. The Instructor will teach all lecture, laboratory practice training, and supervise all clinical work experience located in the long‑term care setting.

Responsibilities
  • Review lesson plans at least a week ahead of time.
  • Instruct classes using teaching techniques appropriate to adult learners.
  • Test students regularly; return graded tests within 2–3 class sessions.
  • Report final grades and grade sheets to the office manager daily.
  • Check student attendance and report any absences of more than one session to the Office Manager/Registrar immediately.
  • Turn attendance sheets into the Office Manager/Registrar at the end of each day.
  • Utilize recognized classroom management techniques and report any inappropriate behavior or attitude problems to the Executive Director.
  • Begin and end each class period on time.
  • Restrict food and drink consumption to break areas in the school.
  • Distribute course syllabi and textbooks on the first day of class.
  • Attend all regularly scheduled monthly, quarterly, and in‑service meetings.
  • Demonstrate professional growth through membership in a professional organization, attendance at seminars, workshops or meetings, continuing education, or outside work in the field of expertise.
  • Work with the Executive Director on a plan of action when the instructor's evaluations fall below 85% or for any class in which competency test pass rates fall below 80%.
  • Provide adequate notice to the Executive Director when classroom supplies are needed.
  • Communicate the need for equipment repair/maintenance in a timely manner.
  • Obtain CPR/BLS Instructor certification from Dorsey Schools (AHA) within 60 days.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Excellent written and oral communication and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work well independently and within a team environment.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Minimum of two years of nursing experience with at least one year in long‑term care performing clinical skills with patient care needs.
  • Documentation of current licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN), Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), or Certified Nurse Aide (CNA).
Working / Physical Demands

Limited travel may be required (0–50%). May be required to work late and on occasional weekends to support business needs. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit for extended periods of time, and have sufficient hand, arm, and finger dexterity to operate a phone, computer keyboard, and other office equipment. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to see, talk, and hear.
