Job description

Position Summary

Performs general resident care to residents under the supervision of the Licensed Practical Nurse or Registered Nurse.

Responsibilities
  1. Assists residents with hygiene, mobility, hydration, elimination, and nutritional needs.
  2. Provides routine treatments and maintains a safe, clean, neat, and organized environment.
  3. Maintains safety and security of residents, families, self, and healthcare team members.
  4. Ensures resident privacy, rights, and confidentiality.
  5. Follows standard precautions, including hand washing between residents.
  6. Assists with admission, transfer, and discharge processes.
  7. Records vital signs and fluid intake/output as directed.
  8. Documents resident information accurately per Orlando Health policies.
  9. Recognizes and reports safety concerns and changes in resident condition.
  10. Participates in handoff reports and hourly rounding.
  11. Provides excellent service and care to residents, families, and team members.
  12. Demonstrates competency in assigned tasks and skills.
  13. Maintains a clean and organized nursing unit.
  14. Handles incoming calls, resident requests, and call lights.
  15. Transports and delivers items, equipment, blood products, and medications (excluding controlled substances and IV chemotherapy drugs).
  16. May have limited access to medication storage areas.
  17. Performs transport duties, including resident and staff transportation, behavior observation, and documentation of trips and incidents.
  18. Ensures vehicle safety and reports maintenance needs.
  19. Maintains regular attendance per policies and standards.
Qualifications

Education/Training: Demonstrates reading, communication, mathematical, and reasoning skills. Training to pass CNA licensure exam.

Licensure/Certification: Current Florida CNA license, BLS certification, and valid Florida driver’s license (if required). Must be insurable under Orlando Health insurance standards.
