Job summary

Riverside Health System in Newport News, Virginia, seeks an in-home care aide to provide personalized care under the supervision of a registered nurse. You will assist with activities of daily living, monitor patient condition, and document accordingly in the patient's chart.

Requirements include Nurse Aide Training or a VA-approved certificate, CPR/BLS within 30 days, and a valid driver’s license with access to a personal vehicle for business use. Weekend shifts and rotation may apply.

Qualifications

• Program graduate or certificate program approved by VA Board.
• Experience in health care setting is preferred.
• CPR/BLS certification required within 30 days of hire.

In addition, this position must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patient served. The individual must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and provide the care needed as described according to the departmental policy and procedure. Promotes and maintains safe work environment for patients.What you will doProvides personal care, comfort measures, and specified treatments to assigned patients in case load. Reports any changes in the client's condition and/or needs to the assigned supervising Registered Nurse.Follows the plan of care that assures patients receive consistent, competent, and ethical care, within legal standards of practice, while maintaining privacy and support for the patient’s value system. Provides care consistent with both verbal and/or written instructions. Understands assigned plans of care within appropriate scope of practice and responsibilities as directed by the RN/LPN to include accurately completing all required documentation.Ensures availability of resources (equipment, instruments, supplies) necessary to ensure positive patient outcomes.
