Harmony Senior Services, LLC is seeking a dedicated Resident Assistant/Personal Care Aide (PCA) in Suffolk, VA. You will provide quality care, assist residents with daily activities, and support a safe, respectful living environment.

Responsibilities include reporting incidents to nursing staff, participating in activity planning, and maintaining confidentiality. A state-approved PCA program and CPR/First Aid certification are required, with a willingness to obtain certification within 60 days.

Qualifications

  • Must have a High School Diploma or GED.
  • Must have completed an approved personal care aide program per state regulations.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
  • Must be organized and able to work well with all levels of personnel.
  • Must be a contributing member of the nursing team and follow supervisor instructions.
  • Must be polite and considerate of residents, visitors, and co-workers at all times.
  • Must be able to walk and stand for extended periods.
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs, and push or carry 25 lbs.
  • Must be able to safely lift and transfer residents with proper body mechanics.
  • Must wear designated uniform during working hours, including name badge.
  • Must be CPR/First Aid certified or willing to become certified within 60 days of hire.
  • Must represent the community in a positive and professional manner.
  • Must attend and complete all required in-services and staff meetings.
  • Must be willing to work a flexible schedule that includes weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

  • Provide quality care and assistance with activities of daily living for residents.
  • Report incidents and care concerns to RNs, ED, or appropriate personnel.
  • Maintain knowledge of all policies and procedures.
  • Assist residents with activities of daily living and daily tasks.
  • Perform housekeeping duties as directed (beds, apartments, common areas, dining room).
  • Respond promptly to resident calls for assistance or emergencies.
  • Remain calm and competent during emergencies.
  • Assist in planning and conducting activity programs for residents.
  • Follow confidentiality policies for resident information.
  • Assist residents to and from dining room and activities.
  • Check on residents and ensure attendance at meals and activities.
  • Monitor ill residents and report status to appropriate staff.
  • Communicate status, appointments, admissions, and transfers in writing and verbally.
  • Assist new residents with move-in transition and provide emotional support.
  • Complete other duties as assigned.

Job description
