Job description

CNA/Patient Care Technician, High Level Care

Join UPMC as a CNA/Patient Care Technician, High Level Care at UPMC Western Maryland. Our High Level Care unit is hiring a full-time CNA or soon-to-be CNA to join our team. This 28-bed step-down unit specializes in trauma, strokes, peritoneal dialysis, and intermediate care. The position is night shift with rotating holiday and weekend shifts. Eligible candidates may receive a $5,000 sign-on bonus with a two-year commitment. The final placement will be based on experience.

Job Responsibilities:
  1. Documentation and Clerical Functions: Document in medical records and complete clerical tasks as needed.
  2. Work Performance: Complete tasks timely, suggest improvements, take responsibility, and support department initiatives.
  3. Policies and Procedures: Follow all policies related to patient care and safety protocols.
  4. Communication and Relationships: Communicate effectively, understand cultural diversity, and build professional relationships.
  5. Patient Care: Assist with patient procedures, activities of daily living, and monitor patient status, providing feedback to RNs.
  6. Feedback and Learning: Receive feedback, identify learning needs, and participate in self-review and performance improvement.
  7. Equipment and Communication: Report equipment issues, communicate across departments, and contribute to unit activities.
  8. Core Nursing Assistant Responsibilities: Perform blood glucose testing, vital signs, I&O, specimen collection, Foley care, and other ADLs. Achieve competency in advanced skills like EKGs, phlebotomy, IV removal, and NG tube management.
  9. Additional Duties: Perform duties according to system competencies and other tasks as assigned.
