Job summary

Harmony Senior Services is seeking a compassionate CNA/Direct Care Giver in Waldorf, Maryland to assist residents with daily living activities, provide emotional support, and participate in activity programs. The role requires CPR/First Aid certification or willingness to obtain within 60 days and a current CNA license.

Responsibilities include documenting resident status, reporting incidents, and ensuring a safe, respectful environment while adhering to policies and procedures.

Qualifications

• Must possess current CNA license from the State in which the community is located.
• CPR/First Aid certification is required or must be obtained within 60 days of hire.
• Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
• Must be organized and able to work well with all levels of personnel.
• Must be a contributing member of the nursing team and follow supervisor instructions.

Responsibilities

• Provide activities of daily living assistance to residents.
• Assist residents with meals and dining room activities.
• Perform housekeeping duties in resident rooms and common areas.
• Report incidents or concerns to appropriate staff and document appropriately.
• Assist in planning and conducting activity programs for residents.
• Assist new residents with move-in transition and provide emotional support.
• Maintain confidentiality and proper documentation in daily logs and clinical records.

The CNA encourages residents to function at their highest level of independence and to participate in community activities. Conducts activities and provides for a meaningful experience for all residents.Must maintain a working knowledge of all policies and procedures pertaining to the positionAssists residents with activities of daily livingReports incidents involving residents to include care concerns or issues, to appropriate individuals (ex: HCC, RN/LPN, or ED) and completes appropriate documentationPerform housekeeping duties, such as making resident beds, cleaning resident apartments, common areas, dining room, etc. as directed by supervisorRespond promptly to all resident calls for assistance or emergency alertsMust be able to remain calm and competent during emergenciesAssists in planning and conducting activity programs for residentsFollows confidentiality policies regarding release of resident informationAssists residents to and from the dining room, and to and from activitiesChecks on residents, ensures attendance at meals and activitiesChecks on residents who are ill and reports status or concerns to appropriate individuals documents appropriately when necessaryCommunicate verbally and in writing to report resident status, upcoming community information, resident appointments, admissions, and transfersAssists new residents with move-in transition: provide emotional supportReports all resident changes and interventions and interventions in the Daily Log and clinical record.
