Job summary

San Joaquin Nursing and Rehabilitation in Bakersfield, CA is seeking a dedicated Certified Nursing Assistant for the NOC shift on a part-time basis. The CNA will provide routine daily nursing care to residents according to care plans and supervision.

Responsibilities include bathing, mobility assistance, vital signs, documentation, infection control, and safe transfers. CNA license in CA is required; CPR preferred.

Qualifications

• Education and Experience Minimum 10th grade education required.
• Previous experience in a skilled nursing facility preferred.
• Current, active CNA license in the State of California. CPR certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct resident care including bathing, grooming, dressing, toileting, and oral hygiene.
• Assist residents with mobility, transfers, repositioning, and ambulation.
• Answer call lights promptly and ensure residents’ needs are met in a timely manner.
• Measure and record vital signs (TPRs), weights, intake and output as directed.
• Observe and report changes in residents’ physical or emotional condition to the Charge Nurse.
• Assist residents during meals, including documenting food and fluid intake.
• Maintain clean and organized resident rooms and ensure residents remain dry and comfortable.

Position Summary

The primary purpose of this position is to provide routine daily nursing care and services to assigned residents in accordance with each resident’s assessment, care plan, and direction from nursing supervisors.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Provide direct resident care including bathing, grooming, dressing, toileting, and oral hygiene.
• Assist residents with mobility, transfers, repositioning, and ambulation.
• Answer call lights promptly and ensure residents’ needs are met in a timely manner.
• Measure and record vital signs (TPRs), weights, intake and output as directed.
• Observe and report changes in residents’ physical or emotional condition to the Charge Nurse.
• Assist residents during meals, including documenting food and fluid intake.
• Maintain clean and organized resident rooms and ensure residents remain dry and comfortable.
• Assist with admissions, transfers, and discharges.
• Perform restorative and rehabilitative procedures as instructed.
• Follow all infection control and safety protocols, including bloodborne pathogen procedures.
• Accurately complete documentation and charting in accordance with facility policies.
• Maintain strict confidentiality of all resident information in compliance with HIPAA.
• Immediately report incidents, injuries, abuse allegations, or safety concerns.
• Follow all established policies and procedures and perform duties as assigned by supervisors.

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.

Qualifications

Education and Experience Minimum 10th grade education required. Previous experience in a skilled nursing facility preferred.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

Current, active Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) license in the State of California. CPR certification preferred.

• Ability to communicate effectively with residents, families, and staff.

Physical Requirements

• Frequent standing, walking, bending, lifting, and repositioning residents.
• Ability to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and assist with heavier transfers as part of a team.
• Ability to respond quickly in emergency situations.
• May assist in resident evacuation during emergencies.

Work Environment
