Job summary

The Orenda Center of Wellness is seeking a motivated CNA to support our medical department at a men’s residential treatment facility in Buckeystown, Maryland. You will work with the nursing director to perform daily nursing tasks, assessments, med administration, and EMR documentation.

Ideal candidates are compassionate, demonstrate robust patient care skills, and have BLS/CPR certification along with Maryland CNA and CMT credentials.

Qualifications

• CNA license active and in good standing in Maryland.
• CMT - Medication technician certification from Maryland Board of Nursing.
• Current BLS/CPR certification in good standing.
• Compassionate, patient-focused attitude toward clients and staff.
• Preferred experience in Behavioral Health or substance use treatment.

Responsibilities

• Assist with nursing/medical assessments on intakes.
• Administer or oversee medications as prescribed.
• Maintain up-to-date med log and secure meds.
• Count controlled substances with nursing and report discrepancies.
• Monitor ill clients and report emergencies; document vitals.
• Document in EMR and complete daily nursing paperwork.

Job description

The Orenda Center of Wellness is actively looking for a CNA to assist our medical department at our residential substance abuse treatment facility exclusively for men located in the serene countryside of Buckeystown, Maryland. We are a fun energetic company doing our part in the battle against addiction and mental health stigma, by offering the highest standard of individualized treatment in a loving and therapeutic environment. In addition to substance abuse treatment, we also offer co-occurring mental health services by licensed clinical therapist. We are working towards improving access to healthcare services, while beginning to serve the ever-growing population of males, suffering from the afflictions of substance use disorders. As a result, we a looking for an organized, patient, and caring Nursing Assistant (CNA) with the passion to serve the underserved to join our multi-disciplinary medical team. This role will assist the nursing department with all daily tasks and administrative duties. The ability to handle / assess minor medical issues and oversee client medications will be required.

The CNA Position Entails

• Work directly with onsite nurse and report to Nursing Director (NP)
• Full time 40-hour work week with scheduling flexibility available and daily 30-min off clock breaks as required
• Assisting with all nursing / medical assessments on intakes
• Administering and/or overseeing medications as prescribed
• Ensuring that the med log is up to date and medication security is followed
• Assisting nursing with counting of controlled substances and reporting of needs / errors
• Assessing clients who are ill either from withdraw or unrelated illness
• Monitoring vital signs and reporting to nursing any medical emergencies or crisis
• Documentation in EMR
• Conducting and completing all required nursing department paperwork and requirements of care daily

Requirements

• CNA active and clean licensed in the State of Maryland
• CMT - Med technician certification from Marland Board of Nursing - active and in good standing
• BLS First aid / AED/ CPR Certification - active and in good standing
• Compassionate and caring attitude towards all patients and support staff
• Preferred experience working with Behavioral Health, Mental Health or Substance Use Disorder Treatment
• Preferred experience working with medications and controlled substances including maintenance medication
