Job summary

San Joaquin Nursing and Rehabilitation in Bakersfield, CA is hiring a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) for the Full-Time NOC shift (10:30 PM – 6:30 AM). The facility offers a $18.00 – $19.00 per hour pay range based on experience and is a premier 99-bed skilled nursing facility opposite the city's major hospital.

The CNA will provide routine daily nursing care, assist with transfers, meals, and documentation, and follow HIPAA and infection control standards.

Qualifications

• Current, active Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) license in the State of California.
• CPR certification preferred.
• Minimum 10th grade education.
• Previous experience in a skilled nursing facility preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct resident care including bathing, grooming, dressing, toileting, and oral hygiene.
• Assist residents with repositioning, transfers, ambulation, and mobility support.
• Measure and record vital signs, weights, and intake/output as directed.
• Respond to call lights and meet residents' needs promptly.
• Assist with admissions, transfers, and discharges.
• Maintain clean, safe, and organized resident rooms and common areas.
• Observe and report changes in resident condition to the Charge Nurse.
• Assist residents during meals and document intake.
• Follow infection control and safety protocols, including bloodborne pathogen procedures.
• Complete documentation per facility policies and HIPAA.
• Report accidents or safety concerns promptly.
• Perform restorative and rehabilitative procedures as instructed.

Position Summary

The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) provides routine daily nursing care and services to assigned residents in accordance with each resident’s assessment, individualized care plan, and direction from licensed nursing staff.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Provide direct resident care including bathing, grooming, dressing, toileting, and oral hygiene.

• Assist residents with repositioning, transfers, ambulation, and mobility support.

• Measure and record vital signs (TPRs), weights, and intake/output as directed.

• Respond promptly to call lights and ensure residents’ needs are met in a timely manner.

• Assist with admissions, transfers, and discharges.

• Maintain clean, safe, and organized resident rooms and common areas.

• Observe and report changes in residents’ physical, emotional, or behavioral condition to the Charge Nurse.

• Assist residents during meals and document food and fluid intake.

• Follow infection control and safety protocols, including bloodborne pathogen procedures.

• Accurately complete documentation in accordance with facility policies and procedures.

• Maintain strict confidentiality of all resident information in compliance with HIPAA regulations.

• Immediately report accidents, incidents, injuries, abuse allegations, or safety concerns.

• Perform restorative and rehabilitative procedures as instructed.

• Follow all established policies and procedures and complete assigned tasks as directed.

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

• Minimum 10th grade education required.

• Previous experience in a skilled nursing facility preferred.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

• Current, active Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) license in the State of California.

• CPR certification preferred.

Physical Requirements

• Frequent standing, walking, bending, lifting, and repositioning residents.

• Ability to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and assist with heavier transfers as part of a team.

• Ability to respond appropriately during emergency situations, including assisting with evacuation if needed.
