Job summary

The Department of Social Services / Human Services Center in Yankton, SD is hiring a CNA/Mental Health Aide for flexible full-time or part-time hours. The position offers $18.46 per hour with a $3,000 hiring incentive and shift differentials to recognize evening, night, weekend, geriatric, and adolescent unit assignments.

Responsibilities include providing personal care, supporting patients with mental health and chemical dependency needs, and contributing to a therapeutic environment.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of mental illness, serious emotional disturbance, and chemical dependency.
• Knowledge of patient safety procedures.
• Knowledge of patient rights and confidentiality.
• CPR and first aid.

Responsibilities

• Provide personal care services to patients.
• Carry out individual program plans for treatment of patients.
• Relate to and work constructively with patients.
• Detect significant or unusual patient behavior.
• Verbalize the needs of patients.
• Follow oral and written instructions.
• Follow established policies and procedures.
• Listen and be empathetic with patients.
• Assist in lifting and transferring of patients.
• Work with patients displaying aggressive behavior.
• Communicate information clearly and concisely.
