Job summary

Thrivemore is seeking a dedicated Medication Technician (MedTech) to provide resident-centered care in our Albemarle community. You will administer medications, assist with ADLs, and document care precisely according to physician orders and regulatory requirements.

This essential role emphasizes safety, infection control, and compassionate support, with opportunities to contribute to care planning, training, and teamwork with nursing staff.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Completed 24-hour Medication Aide training program approved by the NC Board of Nursing.
• Active on the Medication Aide Registry operated by the NC Division of Health Service Regulation.
• Current CPR certification (or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire).

Responsibilities

• Administer medications and treatments according to physician orders, accurately documenting all care provided on medical administration records.
• Provide or assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, feeding, mobility, and personal hygiene.
• Maintain security, safety, and cleanliness of medication carts and medication storage areas, reporting discrepancies promptly to the supervisor.
• Take and record vital signs, observe residents’ conditions, and report changes in health or behavior to the Director of Nursing or nursing staff.
• Assist with resident meals, ensuring proper feeding support and safe dining experiences.
• Support resident participation in recreational, social, and therapeutic activities.
• Follow infection control, safety, and universal precaution protocols to ensure resident and staff safety.
• Uphold resident rights, confidentiality, and professional standards of care.
• Use safe body mechanics and proper equipment when lifting, transferring, or assisting residents.
• Maintain accurate, timely documentation in resident records and daily logs.
• Communicate effectively and work cooperatively with residents, families, visitors, and staff.
• Participate in care planning, staff meetings, and required training sessions.
• Assist with light housekeeping, laundry, and equipment cleaning as needed to maintain a safe and comfortable environment.
• Comply with all company policies, procedures, and applicable laws, including HIPAA and the Code of Conduct, completing required training and reporting concerns promptly.
