Job summary

OSF HealthCare is seeking a Patient Care Technician/Certified Nursing Assistant (PCT/CNA) to provide safe basic patient care, take vital signs, assist with activities of daily living, collect specimens, and observe changes in patients. You will record information in charts and communicate with the care team to ensure continuity of care, with potential supervision duties as needed.

Required qualifications include High School/GED, BLS for healthcare provider CPR, CNA license in Illinois, and EMT-B

Qualifications

• High School or GED is required.
• Current BLS for Healthcare Provider CPR is required.
• Certified Nursing Assistant license in Illinois is required.
• EMT-B license in Illinois is required.

Responsibilities

• Provide safe basic patient care including activities of daily living.
• Take vital signs and collect specimens as needed.
• Record information in patient charts and communicate with the care team.
• May supervise patients as needed per department expectations.

Expected pay for this position is $18.98 - $22.34/hour. Actual pay will be determined by experience, skills and internal equity. This is an Hourly position.

Overview

POSITION SUMMARY: The Patient Care Technician/Certified Nursing Assistant (PCT/CNA) provides appropriate safe basic care to patients which includes taking vital signs, assisting patients with activities of daily living, specimen collection, and observation of patients for physical/emotional changes. Other duties include recording pertinent information in patient charts, communicating with other Patient Care Team members to ensure continuity of care, and may function in a role providing constant supervision to patients as needed. Duties may vary according to department expectations and needs.

Qualifications

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:

• High School/GED

Licenses/Certifications:

• American Heart Associate BLS for healthcare provider CPR
• Certified Nursing Assistant in the State of Work, OR; EMT-B, License in the State of Illinois

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• 6 or more months experience in a clinical healthcare environment
• Able to communicate effective­ly in person; by telephone; and computer messaging
• 6 or more months experience in supporting physical, emotional and psycho-social needs of patients
