Responsibilities

• Provides personal care services to patients.
• Applies safety principles and proper body mechanics during personal and supportive care, such as ambulation, transferring, assisting with range of motion, positioning, and household chores.
• Plans and prepares nutritious meals and assists with feeding as assigned.
• Performs homemaking and environmental services as assigned.
• Observes, reports, and documents any changes in patient's status. Report to the primary nurse if unable to perform a task.
• Follows specific written instructions for personal care prepared by a registered nurse, received prior to service delivery.
• Assists patients with prescribed exercises as instructed by nurse or therapist.
• Performs and records simple urine tests for sugar, acetone, and albumin.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Current state certification (or registration) as a nurse assistant per state requirements.
• CNA experience within the last two years. If more than two years ago, complete additional training and competency programs before providing services.
• Must successfully pass the care center's competency program.
• Current CPR certification.
