Responsibilities

  • Provides personal care services to patients.
  • Applies safety principles and proper body mechanics during personal and supportive care, including ambulation, transferring, assisting with range of motion, positioning, and household chores.
  • Plans and prepares nutritious meals, assists with feeding as assigned.
  • Performs homemaking and environmental services as assigned.
  • Observes, reports, and documents any changes in patient's status; if unable to perform a task, reports to the primary nurse.
  • Follows written instructions for personal care provided by a registered nurse, received prior to service delivery.
  • Assists patients with prescribed exercises as instructed by nurse or therapist.
  • Performs and records simple urine tests for sugar, acetone, and albumin.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Current state certification (or registration) as a nurse assistant as per state requirements.
  • CNA experience within the last two years; if more than two years, complete additional training and competency program before providing services.
  • Must pass the competency program of the care center.
  • Current CPR certification.
