Job summary

Amedisys, Inc. is seeking a dedicated hospice aide for full-time day shifts. You will provide essential personal care at patients’ homes, assist with mobility, meals, and daily living activities, and document changes for the care team.

Must hold an active CNA license and CPR certification. Experience in home health or hospice within the last 12 months is preferred. The role supports patients in familiar surroundings, with benefits and growth opportunities within a leading U.S.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Active CNA certification in the relevant state.
• CPR certification is current and valid.
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

• Provides personal care services to patients.
• Assists with ambulation, transfers, exercises, and positioning.
• Plans and prepares nutritious meals and assists with feeding.
• Performs homemaking and environmental tasks as assigned.
• Observes and reports changes in patient status to the nurse.
• Follows written instructions from a registered nurse per plan of care.
• Assists with prescribed exercises and basic tests as directed.

Responsibilities

• Provides personal care services to patients.
• Applies safety principles and proper body mechanics to the performance of specific techniques of personal and supportive care such as ambulation of clients, transferring clients, assisting with the normal range of motion and positioning, and doing household chores.
• Plans and prepares nutritious meals, assists with feeding, as assigned.
• Performs homemaking and other environmental services as assigned.
• Observes, reports, and documents any changes in patient's status. If unable to perform a certain task, report to the primary nurse.
• Follow specific written instructions for personal care prepared by a registered nurse in accordance with the plan of care. Written instructions are to be received prior to the delivery of services.
• Assists patients with prescribed exercises as instructed by nurse or therapist.
• Performs and records simple urine tests for sugar, acetone, and albumin.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Current state certification (or registration) as a nurse assistant as per state certification/registration requirements.
• CNA experience within the last two years.
• Current CPR certification.
• Valid driver's license, reliable transportation and liability insurance.
