Job summary

Patient First in Maryland seeks a dedicated Medical Assistant/CNA to support nurses and physicians in patient care. The role involves triage, vital signs, phlebotomy, lab duties, and maintaining a clean treatment area in a fast paced setting.

Required are a Maryland CNA, high school diploma, and reliable teamwork, communication, and multitasking. Responsibilities include charting, equipment handling, and assisting across shifts with a focus on safety and patient comfort.

Qualifications

  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Minimum typing experience.
  • Minimum of one year of clinical experience in a hospital or physician’s office preferred.
  • Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) by the Maryland Board of Nursing.
  • Ability to hear pages, bells, and phone system.
  • Ability to sit, stand, and walk for long periods of time (possibly 4 to 7 hours at a time).
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to attend scheduled CPR classes and code drills.
  • Willingness to work at any center due to a staffing or center emergency or reduction of work.

Responsibilities

  • Locating patients, obtaining vital signs, triaging, and preparing for exams.
  • Understanding and using the electronic medical record system.
  • Ordering lab, x-ray, and medical supplies as directed.
  • Notifying the Nurse/Physician when ready for exam and communicating symptoms.
  • Assisting Nurses and Physicians with patient care.
  • Handling requests with respect and in a timely manner.
  • Performing lab duties as assigned.
  • Performing phlebotomy procedures.
  • Sterilizing and setting up instruments.
  • Receiving and storing supplies; restocking treatment rooms as needed.
  • Reporting to the Charge Nurse before leaving the shift.
  • Following ancillary guidelines and established policies.
  • Maintaining cleanliness of the treatment area and OSHA-compliant cleanup.
  • Attending staff meetings; operating and maintaining equipment as trained.
