Job summary

Mercyhealth is seeking a Licensed CNA to provide hands-on patient care across units, following RN supervision. The role includes vital signs, bladder scanning, telemetry, and training new staff, with a 24-hour weekly schedule.

Responsibilities encompass documenting care, maintaining clean spaces, stocking supplies, and floating to units as needed. Certification and CPR/BLS within 90 days are required.

Qualifications

• Completion of a CNA program.
• Current CNA certificate in applicable state.
• Approved CPR or BLS certification required within 90 days.

Responsibilities

• Provides patient care as assigned and per routine as defined by educational scope, according to standards of care, shift routines, and policies and procedures.
• Answers call lights in a timely and appropriate manner.
• Documents care provided according to standards.
• Maintains a clean work and patient environment.
• Maintains supplies, including scanning, stocking and ordering new supplies and disposing of expired or damaged supplies.
• Floats to various units based on identified patient care needs.
• Participates in department or unit performance improvement activities.
• Training/precepting new partners in collaboration with unit educator.
• Blood Glucose Monitoring (BGM) with lab personnel.
• Bladder scanning procedure reviewed.
• Bladder scanner training complete (check off sheet for competency).
• Attaching patient to remote telemetry or bedside cardiac monitor.
• Managing and reporting collection devices.
• Colostomy, ileostomy or other fecal management systems: care and output measures.
• Indwelling catheters: care and output measures.
• Nasogastric tubes to suction.
• Surgical drains under direction of supervising RN.
• Competent in completing vital signs: Manual process for blood pressure and required reporting of abnormal values to supervising RN.
• Discontinue invasive devices under the direction of the supervising RN:
• Indwelling (Foley) catheters
• Nasogastric tubes
• Peripherally inserted intravenous catheters
• Similar devices as appropriate
