Job summary

Duke University Health System is seeking a Nursing Assistant (NA) to support the Cancer Center GI/Thoracic unit in Durham, NC. The NA will provide direct patient care under RN/LPN supervision and assist with basic comfort measures and unit coordination.

The NA will prepare patients, record data for medical records, and assist with procedures. A valid NA I certification and BCLS are required, with relocation assistance possible based on eligibility.

Qualifications

• Working knowledge of routine and special patient treatments.
• Ability to document and communicate pertinent information.
• Ability to withstand standing, walking, bending and lifting
• Pre-employment Physical Capacity Testing may be required.

Responsibilities

• Prepare patients, equipment and supplies for procedures and provide manual assistance as required.
• Record patient data for medical records and inform RN/LPN of information collected.
• Administer basic care including feeding, bathing, hygiene, and comfort; provide additional care as needed.
• Take and record vital signs, I&O, and report changes in patient condition.
• Assist with admissions, discharges, and transportation of patients.
• Follow standard precautions and use PPE as required.
