Job summary

The Californian-Pasadena, a 63-bed skilled nursing facility, seeks a dedicated Certified Nursing Assistant to provide compassionate resident care and support within a warm, home-like environment.

You will follow Nursing Standards of Care, work with the Charge Nurse, and contribute to personalized resident care plans, routines, and safety. This role emphasizes English communication, physical capability, and a commitment to elderly and chronically ill residents.

Qualifications

• Certified by the State of California as a CNA with active certification.
• Ability to follow oral and written instructions in English.
• Physical capability to lift or move up to 40 pounds.
• Effective English communication.
• Desire to care for elderly or chronically ill residents.

Responsibilities

• Provide resident care per Nursing Standards of Care and facility procedures.
• Report to charge nurse and staff development as directed.
• Perform tasks within CNAs scope and assist with daily living activities.
• Respect Resident Rights and comply with OBRA regulations.
• Document changes in resident condition and care provided.
• Maintain clean resident rooms and proper dress code.
• Keep CPR certification current and participate in ongoing education.

REQUIREMENTS:

1. Certified by the State of California as a Certified Nursing Assistant and maintains current certification while employed as a C.N.A. at the facility.

2. Demonstrates the ability to follow oral and written instructions and to write information in English.

3. Must be able to perform any physical requirement of the position,including lifting dead or unassisted weight of 40 pounds.

4. Demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively in English.

5. Has the desire to care for people, especially the elderly and/or chronically ill.

BASIC JOB FUNCTIONS:

To provide care for residents according to Nursing Standards of Care as taught in an educational program for C.N.A. and according to facility procedures and task lists. Provides care utilizing safe techniques and specialized equipment to protect the resident's and staff. Provides care and services according to Resident Rights and Title 22 and OBRA regulation's.

REPORTING:

The Certified Nursing Assistant reports to the Charge Nurse on duty and the Director of Staff Development.

JOB DUTIES:

Ensure thorough communication and adherence to Certified Nursing Assistants (C.N.A.) guidelines. Responsibilities include:

• Reporting to the assigned station and charge nurse daily
• Performing tasks within C.N.A. scope
• Providing resident care efficiently and safely
• Following facility rules and regulations
• Communicating changes in resident condition promptly
• Collaborating with team members
• Maintaining positive interactions with residents and staff
• Continuing education for C.N.A. certification
• Reporting to work as scheduled and giving proper notice for absences
• Maintaining resident rooms at the end of the shift
• Following dress code and attending meetings
• Keeping CPR certification current
• Following instructions for the walk-to-dine program
• Introducing self to residents and explaining procedures
• Monitoring vital signs, assisting with activities of daily living, charting, and assisting with meals
• Following resident-specific care plans
• Completing any other assigned duties from supervisors.
