The Nursing Assistant (NA) serves as caregiver to the resident during the scheduled work period in long term care. Provides resident-centered nursing care and daily living assistance to assigned resident under the supervision of a registered nurse (RN). Knowledge of and delivers age-appropriate care related to the physical and psychological needs of the resident as per care plan. The NA is expected to follow infection prevention and control policies and PPE use. Assistant with basic health care needs such as bathing, toileting, grooming, dressing, recording vital signs, and providing psychosocial support. Assists residents with transferring, repositioning, and walking using correct transfer techniques and equipment and provides range of motion and passive exercises. Completes food preparation and dining tasks while creating a positive dining experience. Assists residents with meals and snacks, providing water and supplements as appropriate. The NA aids providers and nursing staff with procedures if needed, documents resident interactions and outcomes, communications about resident status, collects non-invasive body fluid specimens, records vital signs, provides housekeeping and laundry services, and assists with wellness and recreational programs. May participate in departmental/organization committees and task forces as needed.
