Job summary

AdventHealth in Hendersonville, NC, is hiring a Full-time Patient Care Technician for day shifts. The role supports nurses, delivers patient care, and participates in safety and quality initiatives. Requires CNA/CPCT- A or NCCT/NHA credentials and BLS.

The position includes safety responsibilities, documentation, and collaboration with the healthcare team to meet patient needs and improve outcomes in an acute care setting.

Qualifications

• High School Grad or Equiv (Required).
• 1+ PCT experience preferred.
• Bedside patient care in acute care or related setting preferred.
• CPR/BLS certification required or in progress.
• CNA or equivalent certification required or listed.

Responsibilities

• Performs patient care under RN direction.
• Communicates effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team.
• Maintains a clean, safe environment for patients and staff.
• Follows safety rules, isolation guidelines and PPE usage.
• Documents procedures accurately in patient records.

Job Description:

• Schedule: Midshift Days
• Performs treatments according to policy and procedure, providing patient care appropriate to age, mobility, acuity, and culture.
• Functions appropriately in clinical emergencies.
• Participates in practice changes resulting from performance improvement activities and supports quality standards and initiatives.
• Follows prescribed isolation guidelines, demonstrates appropriate use of protective equipment, performs handwashing according to policy, and enforces safety regulations.
• Exhibits a desire to learn and upgrades skills continuously.
• Communicates effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
• Maintains a clean and safe environment for patients and staff.
• Assists in the delivery of patient care as a team member under the direction of a registered nurse.
• Documents and reports all procedures in accordance with department policy.
• Participates in obtaining a nursing history and reports abnormalities to the registered nurse.
• Assists in identifying patient needs
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Education:

• High School Grad or Equiv [Required]

Work Experience:

• 1+ applicable PCT experience [Preferred]
• Previous bedside patient care in an acute care unit, unit secretary, monitor technician, or equivalent medical experience [Preferred]

Licenses and Certifications:

• Basic Life Support - CPR Cert (BLS) [Required]
• Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) [Required] OR NHA Certified Patient Care Technician/Assistant (CPCT/A) [Required] OR NCCT Patient Care Technician (NCPCT) [Required] OR AMCA Patient Care Technician Certification (PCT-C) [Required] OR Emergency Medical Tech Cert (EMT)[Required]
