Job summary

YNHHS is seeking a Certified Nursing Assistant to support patient care under the supervision of the Nurse Manager and Registered Nurse. The role involves direct and indirect patient care activities essential to comprehensive care, including vital signs, patient identification, and teamwork with the multidisciplinary staff.

Responsibilities include accurate patient reporting, safe medication delivery from pneumatic tubes, and flexible relocation to meet care needs.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; CNA or other educational equivalent.
• CT CNA certification or EMT or a student nurse in an accredited program or LPN.
• BCLS (Basic Cardiac Life Support) certification must be obtained prior to employment or within one month of hire.
• PCT must maintain BLS at all times during employment and if training expires, will be suspended until renewed.
• Successful completion of orientation; ability to speak and write English proficiently.

Responsibilities

• Under RN direction, performs selected tasks to assist in patient assessment, planning and evaluation.
• Obtains and records vital signs as ordered or delegated by the RN.
• Identifies patients accurately following established policies (ID bands, barcode scanning).
• Assists in direct and indirect patient care activities to ensure safe, efficient delivery.
• Communicates effectively with patients, families and staff; covers BA desk when needed.
• Relocates and rotates to meet patient care needs.
• Delivers medications from pneumatic tube system to the appropriate licensed practitioner.
• Collaborates with multidisciplinary team to address patient/family needs.
