AIMED is a faith-based agency serving individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in Pittsburgh. We are seeking compassionate Residential Advisors to support participants in overnight care, including personal care, transportation, medication administration, and crisis response.

Join our team to help participants build independence and skills while maintaining safety. Requires HS diploma, 1 year human service experience, and caregiving certifications; overnight shift Wed-Sun 10

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma required and at least 1 year of human service experience.
  • Medication administration certification.
  • Must be 21 years old or older.
  • Autonomy and ability to work without supervision.
  • Interpersonal sensitivity and tactful interaction.
  • Reliability and flexibility.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to drive a van.
  • Crisis intervention training (nonviolent crisis intervention, positive approach).
  • CPR, First Aid and AED.
  • Criminal clearance required (ACT 33, 34 and 73).

Responsibilities

  • Provide safe, supportive environment and individualized behavioral supports.
  • Assist with personal care and mobility tasks.
  • Transport participant to community activities and appointments.
  • Administer and document medications per regulations.
  • Perform light housekeeping and meal prep as needed.
  • Monitor participant safety and crisis management as required.
  • Attend mandatory trainings and team meetings.

Available Overnight-awake shift Wednesday-Sunday 10 PM to 6 AM

Certified Nursing Assistants are responsible for maintaining a safe, supportive, and therapeutic environment which fosters growth and rehabilitation and facilitates the development of mutual aid/self-help skills among individuals. Staff's primary role is to provide the appropriate and effective behavioral supports tailored to the needs and desires of each individual to enable each to live as independently as possible. Residential Advisors are expected to recognize when an individual is in a crisis and be able to utilize the appropriate comprehensive crisis management training, psychiatric, medical back up services and/or the crisis team involved with the individual. The Residential Advisors play a critical role in the overall success of our Residential Services and are looked at as "natural role models".

Workday with the Participant:
  • Community Integration: Providing transportation in the community, jobs, fun social activities, doctor's appointment.
  • Personal Care: The participant's needs assistance with showering, dressing, grooming, toileting, and mobility. Making sure the participant maintains good healthy hygiene. (Full Care changing depends)
  • Building Skills and a positive relationship with the participant: Helping and teaching daily life skills according to their goals to support independence
  • Medication Administration: Manage and administer medications.
  • Household Support: Perform light housekeeping (laundry, vacuuming, dishes), meal preparation, and grocery shopping, making sure walkways are cleared/snow/leaves.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Navigating through Challenges:
  • Participant's Behavior: Non-Verbal, Intermittent Explosive Disorder (IED) Impulsive, Impulse Disorder, Autistic, NeuroDiversion. It requires a person to have patience during unpredictable moments and resilience to handle situations with love, kind and compassionate attitude. Following safety protocols and the agency's policy and making sure the participant is healthy and safe.
Documentation and Compliance:
  • Responsible for administering and documenting medication according to the regulations.
  • Responsible for reporting incidents or neglect to the supervisor.
  • Responsible for following the participants' individual service plan (ISP). Tracking and documenting the participant's progress.
  • Responsible for making you attend mandatory training and site team meetings.

Qualifications:
  1. The minimum professional qualifications for Residential Advisors are a High School Diploma and one year of Human Service work experience. At least 2-3 working with autism and intellectual disability, and mental health.
  2. Medication administration certification.
  3. Must be 21 years old or older.
  4. Autonomy - ability to work without immediate supervision.
  5. Interpersonal sensitivity (objective awareness of others, tactful interaction, ease in establishing limits).
  6. Reliability and flexibility.
  7. Insight and the ability to articulate it.
  8. Valid driver's license and the ability to drive a van. (Employees Only)
  9. Crisis intervention training (i.e., nonviolent crisis intervention, positive approach, etc.)
  10. CPR, First Aid and AED.
  11. Must clear ACT 33, 34 and 73 (criminal clearance).
