Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED required.

  • Familiarity with basic computer applications and EMR systems helpful.

Responsibilities

  • Educate, guide, and support residents in activities of daily living to promote independence and self-care.
  • Assist residents with medication management and safe self-administration.
  • Maintain cleanliness and safe operation of residential sites.
  • Plan and assist with daily menus to encourage healthy nutrition.
  • Conduct daily well-being assessments and communicate concerns to staff.
  • Serve as a positive role model and resource for residents.

Position Overview

The Resident Assistant plays a vital role in supporting the well-being, safety, and daily living needs of adult and older adult residents within a group home or residential care setting. This position fosters a respectful, inclusive, and supportive environment for individuals with diverse backgrounds and needs, including those experiencing mental health challenges, substance use concerns, or developmental disabilities. The Resident Assistant serves as a positive role model, provides guidance in daily activities, and helps residents achieve greater independence and quality of life. Key responsibilities include assisting with daily routines, promoting healthy habits, supporting medication management, and maintaining a safe and welcoming living environment. The Resident Assistant collaborates with a multidisciplinary team and acts as a resource for residents, encouraging personal growth and community engagement.

Hours: Thursday, Friday, and Saturday 7A-7P

Essential Functions
  • Educate, guide, and support residents in activities of daily living, promoting independence and self-care.
  • Assist residents with medication management, ensuring safe and accurate self-administration.
  • Maintain cleanliness and efficient operation of residential sites, fostering a comfortable and safe environment.
  • Support the planning and implementation of daily menus, encouraging healthy nutrition.
  • Conduct daily assessments of resident well-being and promptly communicate concerns to appropriate staff.
  • Serve as a positive role model and resource for residents, fostering mutual respect and inclusion.
  • Lead skills groups in our Drop In Program.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support the overall functioning of the residential program.
Work-Related Experience
  • Experience working with diverse populations, including individuals with complex medical or behavioral health needs.
  • Familiarity with basic computer applications and Electronic Medical Records (EMR) system.

  • Ability to remain calm and effective in high-stress situations, including emergencies.
  • Strong communication, critical thinking, and decision-making skills.
  • Emotional resilience and capability to provide compassionate support while maintaining professional boundaries.
Physical
  • Ability to stand, walk, and perform light lifting as needed (up to 25 lbs).
  • Capability to drive a 12-passenger van safely in various weather conditions (valid Driver’s License required).
  • Ability to complete First Aid and CPR training provided by the organization.
  • Occasional exposure to bodily fluids, infectious diseases, and hazardous materials; adherence to infection control protocols is required.
  • Prolonged sitting at a desk with frequent computer use.
Working Conditions
  • Work is performed in a clean, well-lit, and ventilated group home or office environment.
Education, Certification, and Licensure

Education: High School diploma or GED

Certification: First Aid and CPR certification (training provided upon hire)
