Job summary

The University of Utah Health is seeking a Nursing Assistant to provide direct patient care under the direction of a registered nurse. You will interact with patients and families, support patient care needs, and assist with routine tasks in a fast-paced clinical setting.

Responsibilities include helping with feeding, mobility, and personal care, documenting observations, and supporting unit operations. Rotating shifts, including nights and weekends, may be required to meet 24/7 patient care

Qualifications

• Ability to work variable and rotating shifts in a 24/7 patient care environment.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with patients, families, and staff.
• Customer service orientation and ability to multitask in a busy healthcare setting.
• Experience using a multi-line phone system and hospital paging system ideal.
• Knowledge of emergency/crisis protocols and appropriate action planning.

Responsibilities

• Assist patients with feeding, mobility, grooming, and daily activities.
• Reinforce teaching provided by licensed professionals to patients and families.
• Collect, report, and document data related to direct patient care.
• Support indirect care tasks: maintain clean, safe environment, transport patients, chaperone physician.
• Process paper orders during downtime and enter downtime start/stop times.
• May schedule appointments and maintain unit patient records and boards.
