Job summary

ChildServe in Johnston, IA, is seeking a compassionate Nursing Assistant to join the inpatient Pediatric Complex Medical program. You’ll assist with daily care, follow care plans with nurses, and help maintain cleanliness and readiness for activities.

The position requires active DIA CNA certification in Iowa, preferred Certified Medication Aide, and BLS within 90 days. You’ll work 3 shifts weekly, with weekend rotation, and gain comprehensive benefits including PTO and health plans.

Qualifications

• Active DIA certification as a nursing assistant in Iowa.
• Certified Medication Aide preferred.
• BLS certification within 90 days before working independently.
• Ability to lift up to 35 lbs and be mobile within the work area.
• Ability to read, write, and speak English.

Responsibilities

• Assist with daily care routines including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility while honoring each child’s privacy and dignity.
• Follow individualized care plans and collaborate with nurses and therapists to ensure each child’s unique needs are met.
• Help children look and feel their best by maintaining cleanliness, comfort, and readiness for scheduled activities.
• Support families by sharing updates and reinforcing care techniques that promote each child’s progress and well-being.
• Accurately document care provided and maintain compliance with ChildServe policies and professional standards.

Job description

Join our compassionate team in our inpatient Pediatric Complex Medical program, where we provide around-the-clock care in a warm, family-centered environment. We support infants through age 14 who are unable to live at home due to their complex medical need, helping each child thrive in a safe and caring setting.

Schedule

• 3 shifts per week, 6:00am-6:30pm, every 4th weekend
• Benefit eligible, including medical, dental, vision plans, retirement with company match and generous PTO accrual, including 16 hours of PTO front-loaded

How You’ll Make an Impact

• Assist with daily care routines including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility while honoring each child’s privacy and dignity.

What You’ll Need

• Active DIA certification as a nursing assistant in the state of Iowa.
• Certified Medication Aid preferred
• Must obtain Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through American Red Cross or American Heart Association within 90 days and before working independently.
• Ability to lift up to 35 lbs, be mobile within the assigned work area, and frequently bend, lift, reach, and stand.
• Ability to read, write, and speak the English language.
