Job summary

ChildServe in Johnston, IA, is seeking a CNA or CMA (Certified Medication Aide) to join the Inpatient Complex Medical program providing around-the-clock care for children from infancy to age 30 with complex medical needs.

You will assist with daily care, follow care plans with nurses and therapists, maintain cleanliness, support families, and document care while upholding ChildServe policies. Shifts are 3 per week, 12-hour blocks, with every 3rd or 4th weekend.

Qualifications

• Active DIA certification as a nursing assistant in Iowa.
• BLS certification required within 90 days.
• Ability to lift up to 35 lbs and perform mobility tasks.
• Proficient reading, writing, and speaking English.

Responsibilities

• Assist with daily care routines including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility.
• Follow individualized care plans with nurses and therapists to meet each child's needs.
• Maintain cleanliness, comfort, and readiness for scheduled activities.
• Support families by sharing updates and reinforcing care techniques.
• Accurately document care and comply with policies and standards.

Job description

Join us as a CNA or CMA (Certified Medication Aide) in our Inpatient Complex Medical program, where we provide around-the-clock care in a warm, family-centered environment. We support individuals, infant through age 30, who are unable to live at home due to their complex medical needs, helping each individual thrive in a safe and caring setting.

Schedule

• 3 shifts per week, 6:00am-6:30pm OR 6:00pm-6:30am and every 3rd or 4th weekend, depending on shift

• Assist with daily care routines including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility while honoring each child's privacy and dignity.
• Follow individualized care plans and collaborate with nurses and therapists to ensure each child's unique needs are met.
• Help children look and feel their best by maintaining cleanliness, comfort, and readiness for scheduled activities.
• Support families by sharing updates and reinforcing care techniques that promote each child's progress and well-being.
• Accurately document care provided and maintain compliance with ChildServe policies and professional standards.

What You'll Need

• Active DIA certification as a nursing assistant in the state of Iowa.
• Must obtain Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through American Red Cross or American Heart Association within 90 days and before working independently.
• Ability to lift up to 35 lbs, be mobile within the assigned work area, and frequently bend, lift, reach, and stand.
• Ability to read, write, and speak the English language.
