About Us:

Avon Health Center, family owned since 1974, provides a range of services, including skilled nursing care, post-acute medical and rehabilitation care, hospice, and respite care. We are a 120-bed facility, with 90 beds for Long Term care and 30 for Short Term care.

How it works:

Avon Health Center will sponsor qualified candidates to attend a 3-week CNA class upon completion of the interview process, successful background check (including fingerprinting), references, and pre-hire requirements. After completing the course and passing the CNA exam/licensing, you will be eligible for full-time employment (32 hours per week, including every other weekend and holiday). We are currently hiring for the 3-11 shift. Upon hire, the hourly rate will be $21 plus a $3 shift differential for the 3-11 shift and a $1 weekend differential.

What to Know:

Date of Classes: Monday, 08/18 through Thursday, 09/02/25, from 8 am to 4 pm (no classes on Labor Day 09/01 and no classes on weekends).

Date of Clinicals: Wednesday, 09/03 & Thursday, 09/04/25, from 6:45 am to 3 pm.

Training Site: All classes and clinicals are held at Avon Health Center, 652 West Avon Road, Avon, CT.

Mandatory Attendance: You must attend all days of classes and clinicals to complete the course. Additionally, attendance is required at a 1-hour orientation at the Academy of Medical Training in Waterbury on 07/28 at 6 pm, as well as a math and reading test.

State Exam: Upon course completion, you will need to attend the state test exam around 09/06/25.

Terms & Conditions:

• You are committed to taking and successfully completing the CNA class, passing the competency exam, and becoming a certified CNA.
• You agree to work at Avon Health Center for at least 32 hours per week for a minimum of 12 months after certification (signed agreement required).
• Background check, including FBI fingerprinting, must be cleared before classes start.
• Satisfactory reference checks are required prior to class start.
• You must provide current original identification documents for Employment Eligibility Verification (I-9 form) before classes begin.

Note: Class and clinical hours are unpaid.
