Job summary

Hospice of North Alabama in Florence, AL is seeking a compassionate Hospice CNA to join our caring team. You will provide direct, 1:1 patient care focusing on comfort, dignity, and support for patients and families.

The ideal candidate has at least six months of personal care experience, CPR certification, and the ability to work with minimal supervision. We offer a supportive environment, flexible scheduling, and comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Personal Care: Help with bathing, dressing, toileting, mobility and repositioning.
• Monitor and report changes in patient condition.
• Assist with ambulation, transfers and ROM exercises.
• Medication assistance per state regulations.
• Provide emotional support and companionship.
• Light housekeeping and meal assistance.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation.
• Collaborate with hospice interdisciplinary team.

As a Hospice CNA You will:

• Personal Care: Help with bathing, dressing, toileting, mobility, and repositioning
• Monitor & Report: Observe and report changes in the patient's condition
• Mobility: Assist with ambulation, transfers, ROM exercises and safe equipment use
• Medication Assistance: Help with self-administered medications per state regulations
• Emotional Support: Offer companionship and comfort to patients and families.
• Light Housekeeping: Change linens, assist with meals, and maintain a clean space.
• Documentation: Maintain accurate and timely documentation
• Team Participation: Collaborate with hospice interdisciplinary team

Qualifications

• Meet the training requirements of the state of practice
• Minimum of six months experience including providing personal care
• Must be 18+ years of age
• Complete a minimum of 75 hours of classroom and supervised practical training, 16 of the 75 hours of classroom must be complete prior to a mandatory 16 hours of practical training
• Possess and maintain current CPR certification
• Ability to read and follow written instructions and document care given
• Understands hospice philosophy, comfortable providing specialized care to the terminally ill
• Ability to work with little direct supervision
• Ability to handle death/dying
• Strong oral and written communication skills
• Good Organizational Skills
