Department: HCP-Hospice

Type: Non-Exempt, Full-time

Manager: Hospice Supervisor

Pay Range: $22.38 - $27.35/hour, plus 5% bonus target and full benefits. Details at careoregon.org/about-us/careers/benefits.

Work Schedule & Location

Sunday-Thursday, serving Central Portland (Inner East & West). Travel outside the workplace is required weekly, potentially using personal vehicle in all weather conditions.

Job Summary

The CNA/Hospice Aide assists with daily activities and personal care per patient care plans, under RN supervision. May also support administrative tasks.

Responsibilities
Patient Assistance
  • Provide compassionate personal care respecting patient dignity.
  • Assist with bathing, oral care, skin and foot care, positioning, and mobility.
  • Manage catheter care, vital signs, and respite care.
  • Recognize and report patient condition changes.
  • Maintain a clean, safe environment following infection control protocols.

Note: Never perform procedures beyond your qualification.

Administrative Support
  • Assist with office/administrative duties as needed.
  • Participate in team meetings and care planning.
Qualifications

Required: Current CNA certification, valid driver's license, CPR certification within 6 months, experience with electronic medical records.

Preferred: Experience in hospice, home health, or long-term care; office-based clerical experience.

Knowledge & Skills
  • Understanding of hospice philosophy and regulations.
  • Strong interpersonal, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, under pressure.
  • Proficiency with computer applications.
Working Conditions

Indoor/outdoor environment, patient interaction, travel required, flexible hours including weekends.
