Job summary

Hospice of North Alabama is seeking a compassionate CNA to join our team in Scottsboro, AL. This Hospice Aide role provides 1:1 patient care, comfort, and support in a home-like setting within a supportive interdisciplinary team.

Responsibilities include personal care, mobility assistance, medication help, documentation, and collaboration with staff. Requires state training, CPR, and strong communication skills; 18+ years old with 75 hours of classroom/practical training.

Qualifications

• Must hold current CPR certification where required.
• Ability to read and follow written instructions and document care given.
• Good organizational skills and ability to work with little direct supervision.
• Comfortable providing specialized care to the terminally ill.

Responsibilities

• Personal Care: Bathing, dressing, toileting, mobility, repositioning.
• Monitor & Report: Observe and report changes in patient condition.
• Mobility: Assist with ambulation, transfers, ROM, safe equipment use.
• Medication Assistance: Help with self-administered medications per state regulations.
• Emotional Support: Provide companionship and comfort to patients and families.
• Light housekeeping: Change linens, assist with meals, maintain clean space.
• Documentation: Maintain accurate and timely documentation.
• Team Participation: Collaborate with hospice interdisciplinary team.

Responsibilities

As a Hospice CNA You will:

• Personal Care: Help with bathing, dressing, toileting, mobility, and repositioning
• Monitor & Report: Observe and report changes in the patient's condition

Qualifications

• Meet the training requirements of the state of practice
• Minimum of six months experience including providing personal care
• Must be 18+ years of age
• Complete a minimum of 75 hours of classroom and supervised practical training, 16 of the 75 hours of classroom must be complete prior to a mandatory 16 hours of practical training
• Possess and maintain current CPR certification in states where required.
• Ability to read and follow written instructions and document care given
• Understands hospice philosophy, comfortable providing specialized care to the terminally ill
• Ability to work with little direct supervision
• Ability to handle death/dying
• Strong oral and written communication skills
• Good Organizational Skills
