Job summary

North Alabama Specialty Hospital in Huntsville, AL is seeking a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) for full-time LTAC/ICU care. The role supports high-acuity patients with a comprehensive benefits and PTO package and shift differentials for day and night coverage.

Under RN/LPN supervision, the CNA provides direct patient care, maintains care standards and adapts to a fast-changing hospital environment while serving diverse patient populations.

Qualifications

• Prior hospital experience required.
• High School Diploma, GED or CNA certification required.
• BLS certification obtained within 90 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Provides direct patient care and maintains patient care standards.
• Assists in admission, transfer and discharge of patients.
• Provides explanation to patient and family prior to administering care to patient; answers questions within scope of practice.
• Demonstrates flexibility, organization and the ability to function in stressful situations.
• Responds to patients in emergency or physically distressful situations.
• Documentation meets current standards and policies.
• Assumes accountability for appropriate utilization of resources.
• Performs other duties as assigned, within the Certified Nurse Assistant's scope of practice.

The Certified Nurse Assistant works under the direction of the RN/LPN. The responsibilities of the Certified Nurse Assistant include providing direct patient care and maintaining patient care standards. The Certified Nurse Assistant must exhibit the ability to work with people from diverse socio-economic backgrounds; to organize, set priorities and manage multiple priorities, and to adapt to a rapidly changing environment.

• Provides basic nursing care to patients within the Certified Nurse Assistant's scope of practice that includes actions that meet psychosocial, cultural, spiritual, and physical needs.
• Performs basic patient care responsibilities considering needs specific to the standard of care for patient's age.
• Assists in admission, transfer and discharge of patients.
