Job Summary

The Nursing Assistant (NA) serves as caregiver to the resident during the scheduled work period in long term care. Provides resident-centered nursing care and daily living assistance to assigned residents under the supervision of a registered nurse (RN). Knowledge of and delivers age-appropriate care related to the physical and psychological needs of the resident as per care plan. Considered a member of the nursing team and is expected to follow infection prevention and control policies and Personal Protective Equipment use. Provides assistance with basic health care needs including bathing, toileting, grooming, dressing/undressing, obtaining and recording vital signs, and providing psychosocial support and other personal care to residents. Assists with transferring, repositioning, walking, and exercises. Completes tasks related to food preparation, dining, and assists residents with meals and snacks. Documents resident interactions and communicates changes to the charge nurse. Collects non-invasive body fluid specimens and gathers vital signs. Provides housekeeping and laundry services, and supports wellness and recreational programs.

Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED preferred, but not required.
  • Minimum age of 16. Prior clinical or nursing assistant experience preferred.
  • Required CNA certification with the State Board of Nursing or in process of obtaining it within four months.
  • Completion of yearly competency testing and continuing education credits (minimum 12 hours annually).
  • For applicable states, certified and registered with the UAP Registry.
  • Dependent on responsibilities, may require a valid driver’s license and medical qualification to perform driving duties.
