Base pay range

$21.00/hr - $21.00/hr

NEW WAGE SCALE: CNAs start at $21/hour, with a night shift differential of $1/hour.

Summary

The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) is responsible for providing resident care and support in all activities of daily living, ensuring the health, welfare, and safety of all residents.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

1. Provide assistance with serving meals and feeding; providing fresh water and nourishment between meals.
2. Assist with personal hygiene tasks such as giving bedpans, urinals, baths, backrubs, shampoos, shaves, and aiding with bathroom travel, showers, and baths.
3. Assist residents in ambulating, turning, and positioning.
4. Maintain resident stability by checking vital signs and weight; record intake and output.
5. Ensure resident comfort by responding to call lights and requests, and reporting observations to the nursing supervisor.
6. Document actions by completing forms, reports, logs, and records.
7. Protect privacy and dignity by keeping patient information confidential and complying with HIPAA and related laws.
8. Follow professional standards, company policies, and all applicable laws, including JCAHO standards.
9. Update job knowledge through educational opportunities, reading professional publications, participating in organizations, and maintaining licensure.
10. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Requirements include:

• Current certification as a CNA according to state laws.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Long-term care experience preferred.
• Current CPR certification required.
• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.

Physical Demands

The physical demands include sitting, standing, bending, walking, and lifting/moving up to 100 pounds. Visual and auditory abilities must support written and verbal communication. The work environment typically has a moderate noise level.
