Job summary

Delaware Hospice is seeking a dedicated CNA to provide compassionate, patient-centered care in patients' homes or facility settings. You will perform personal care tasks, assist with daily activities, and support families as directed by the RN, ensuring compliance with state regulations.

Qualifications

  • Certification within Delaware as a Nurse Aide or completion of 75-hour training with competency testing required.
  • Nursing students with one academic year including direct patient care may be considered if certification requirements are fulfilled.

Responsibilities

Provide Person‑Centered Care: At Delaware Hospice, you step into a role beyond traditional healthcare. Your primary responsibility is to provide compassionate care and services within the scope of CNA certification, adhering to established policies and procedures to ensure strict compliance with federal and state regulations. Qualifications

To excel in this role, you will possess:

  • Two years of experience in a hospital, extended care facility, home care, or hospice setting (preferred).
  • Certification within the State of Delaware as a Nurse Aide or completion of a 75‑hour training course and required competency testing.
  • Nursing students completing one academic year inclusive of direct patient care will be considered if certification requirements are fulfilled.
  • Sympathetic attitude toward the care of the dying patient.
  • Demonstrated maturity to handle the demands of the job effectively.
  • Dependable transportation to patients' homes, a valid driver’s license, and a clean driver’s record.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development.
  • Ability to lift and turn patients as needed, adhering to industry standards and guidelines for safety and correct ergonomic practices.
  • Comfort working in an environment where blood, body tissue, and fluids exposure may occur regularly, following all healthcare industry safety guidelines.
