Job summary

Lunalilo Home and Adult Day Center seeks a dedicated Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) for a full-time schedule in Honolulu, Hawaii. Flexible shifts (day, evening, night) are available to support the Nursing Department with supervision, health status observation, and daily care of kupuna.

Responsibilities include admissions/transfers, vital signs, meals, mobility, and documentation; a safe, dignified, and compassionate environment is essential. Strong English skills and CNA certification required.

Qualifications

• CNA certification is required.
• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Annual physician exam on file.
• TB clearance (2-step) on file.
• Criminal background and APS clearance.
• Certification in In-Person Adult BLS CPR/AED.
• Certification in In-Person Adult First Aid.
• Ability to read, write and speak English.
• 6 months related geriatric or long-term care experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist kupuna admissions, transfers and discharges; record vital signs.
• Assist with meals and daily living activities; transport residents as needed.
• Provide nutrition supplements and document intake.
• Support daily living activities: bathing, toileting, dressing.
• Maintain safe, sanitary environment; change bed linens as needed.
• Assist with therapeutic range of motion activities.
• Assist nurses and staff; perform duties as assigned.
• Report changes in condition to supervisor.
• Treat residents and staff with dignity and respect.

We seekCertified Nurse Aide (CNA)for a full-time schedule (flexible for day, evening, night shifts) to assist the Nursing Department with the supervision, health status observation, daily activities and care of kupuna. Ability to work a flexible schedule is preferred

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Assists in kupuna admissions, transfers and discharges. Obtains and records vital signs.
• Assists kupuna with meal. Assists with before and after meal care. Transports kupuna to and from dinning area. Help residents with their belongings.
• Delivers nutritional supplements to kupuna at assigned times and provides assistance as necessary to ensure intake. Documents intake accordingly.
• Support kupuna in daily living activities such as bathing, toileting, and dressing.
• Assists in providing a safe and sanitary environment for kupuna (e.g. changes bed linen when necessary).
• Perform specialized therapy and range of motion exercise/activities
• Provides supportive services to nurse(s) and other staff as needed and performs duties as assigned.
• Reports changes in kupuna's condition to supervisor.
• Treats all kupuna, staff, visitors with dignity and respect.

Required Documentation

• Annual physician exam

Physical requirements

• Able to lift up to 70 lbs with some frequency.
• Able to continuously stand or walk.
• Able to bend, squat, climb stairs and lift frequently.
• Able to think and respond quickly in emergency situations.
• Have eye-hand-foot coordination.

Mental requirements

• Comfortable with technology, including computer and other software and equipment.
• Alert and pro-active (rather than reactive) when attending to residents.
• Use sympathy and tact when interacting with residents

Preferred Qualifications

• Six months experience as a Certified Nurse Aide.
• Prior training or experience working with residents with dementia.
• Ability to work beyond normal working hours and on weekends and holidays when necessary.
